Meg's update: Jan. 21st: CSW 54th. Preparations

Ambassador Mr. Garen Nazarian of Armenia to the UN, the new Chair of the Bureau of the CSW commission was a guest speaker at today's meeting. Mr. Nazarian promised full cooperation with the commission in fulfilling the successful outcome of Beijing+15. The bureaus proposed work agenda will be carried out through six Interactive expert panels addressing good practices carried out in the Platform for Action, with, of course with challenges remaining. A second speaker, Ms. Rachel Mayanja, Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women, was upbeat in what see has seen as progress for women in all areas of a woman's life, but with still more to be done.
