Meg's update: Dec. 3rd: 30yrs- CEDAW Celebrates
Today's anniversary event at the UN opened with Sec. Gen. Ban Ki-Moon affirming his on-going commitment to protect women from all forms of violence. Featured Success Stories from Morocco, India, Cameroon, Mexico and Austria were shared; M. protection of rights in marriage;I. sexual harassment in workplace; C. lawyers using CEDAW legal standards to protect women's rights; M. 2007 laws carried out to protect women; A. 2007, laws against domestic violence. Tony Award winner, Sarah Jones gave a marvelous performance, acting out how women from developing countries have been helped through CEDAW.
