Meg's update: Nov. 24/Unite/End Violence Against Women
Marking the 10th anniversary of Ban Ki-Moon's campaign,"Unite-End Violence Against Women, today's event launched "Network of Men Leaders to support and become active male members in the global effort to stem unconscionable male behaviour. Speakers from Spain, Norway, Canada, and Pakistan spoke of a culture of silence and behavioural patterns that have perpetuated this perennial injustice. Archbishop Desmond Tutu messaged his eloquent remarks through a video. "Justice, love and peace are true expressions of our humanity; only weak men violate women, and a society that permits such actions, is doomed to fail". The UN Council room was filled equally with men and women; it is hoped that today's event will bring about a desired end to gender violence
