Religious leaders from all traditions were present for these two days of discussions and offerings from faith perspectives. Common action expressed by all speakers were inter-faith organizations work to transform violent conflict, eliminate poverty, promote just and harmonious societies, and protect the earth. The Global Women of Faith Network has, through its many programs, demonstrated it is a desired platform that lifts up, strengthens and supports the unique contributions of women of faith and the organizations they represent. Its focus is on three programmatic areas: a. Building peace and transforming siturations in armed conflicts.
b. Advancing human development by responding to HIV/AIDS. c. Promoting justice by confronting violence against women. Three pillars to be used will be: Networking, Capacity Building, and Mainstreaming. Another very fine presentation was on the theme: "A Path Out of Poverty", through the Legal Empowerment of the Poor. The goal of legal empowerment is for the poor - individually and collectively-to become agents in their own development through their legal identity as equal citizens. Access to fair justaice system, to education, and economic opportunities.
