Tuesday, the 7th, Liz Mach and Yasinta Mkama, were invited to speak at the National Council of the Churches of Christ to an audience of committed women, to share their experiences of treating Fistula patients at Bugando Medical Center. One of the telling stories shared was that of a village woman who began her journey to the hospital on a bicycle, then by bus, lastly by boat until she arrived at the hospital. Following her successful surgery, the next step was to accompany her home, because she couldn't remember the route to take, first she thought it was east, no, perhaps west. After many hours on the road, the staff finally found her village with the help of many along the way. Joys abounded as she entered her simple dwelling, a cured woman, with dignity restored. Our guests were invited to address the Association of Sikh Women for World Peace at Molloy College, Long Island. Here again, their stories and ministry of love and
caring, won the admiration of all. A final meeting at our office at the UN, was with Mr. Conrad Person, from Johnson & Johnson, Pharmaceutical Co. interested in helping, with funding and materials, the needs at Bugando Medical Center.
