Today's theme, "UN-USA: Relations in a Complex World". Ambassador Kapambwe, president of ECOSOC, highlighted the many activities being fostered through the UN; all geared to bringing about life sustaining opportunities. Mr. E. Elmendorf, UN Foundation, spoke of the threat being advanced in Congress to reduce U.S. funding to the UN, and the need for all to contact state representatives to oppose this measure. Mike Beard, from "Better World Campaign" spoke of the need for a robust relationship between U.S. and UN to resolve global challenges. BWC portfolia includes grassroots advocacy, coalition-building and legislative outreach. Energy and Climate Change advocates spoke to these issues. Leslie Cordes, from "The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves" told of this new public-private partnership to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women and combat climate change by creating a global market for clean and efficient cooking solutions, the goal of which is to reach 100 million homes with clean stoves by 2020.
David Aylward, from "mHealth Alliance" told of how using wireless networks and mobile devices are improving global health outcomes, especially those for women and children.
