Meg's update: WGG Meeting: 4-7-2011
This afternoon, the discussion of the proposal: Should WGG move forward and file papers to become a 501 C 3, tax exempt organization. Early on, our co-chairs had received a letter from the NGO Committee on UNICEF requesting WGG to establish its own separate bank account, and manage its own finances without relying on the NGO Committee's limited administrative resources. Pro's and con's were offered with serious thought given the proposal by all present. A vote was taken with the majority in favor of moving forward on this. A review of CSW 55 was reviewed as to what worked, and what needs improvement for next year's event. Many positive comments were voiced, as over twenty side-events were presented very successfully during the two week of meetings; a remaining challenge was lack of adequate rooms for the presentations, and conflicting time schedules for the side-events. Several members volunteered to prepare a process for elections, for new coordinators, who will be asked to take leadership roles for the next two years.
