Following upon the campagin, "World Day of Prayer and Action for Children", 2011-2013, today's panel discussion brought together outstanding speakers highlighting their respective organizations efforts in protecting children against violence in its many forms. Chile's ambassador, Mr. Errazuriz, said his country has ratified both the CRC and its Optional Protocol;
also, new legislation approved by Congress, compels all citizens to report abuses of any nature against children to the police. Mr. Gautam, Convening Chair for the World Day of Prayer, offered, faith-based communities can plant a culture of peace in the hearts of children through
holistic programs building self-esteem and personal worth. Ms Mara Santos, special representative against child violence, estimated some 500,000 children are victims of abuse in the home, at school, in the workplace, and in the larger community. The moral voice of faith-based groups are essential for needed correctives. Dr. Susan Bissell, from Unicef, and Ms. Ogega from Religions for Peace remain committed to continue their excellent programs for protection
of children.
