Convention on the Common Good

This past weekend, Judy and I went to St. Simon's Island, Georgia for a meeting of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good. The setting was pretty amazing and beautiful and the meeting was very good. The convention is being planned for July 11-13 in Philadelphia. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching the convention will promote a platform developed through a grassroots process - plus dialogue with candidates, both Congressional and Presidential, we hope. We will try to get between 600 and 800 delegates to come -- all will represent others: friends, community, parish etc.

Network and Catholics in Alliance are taking the lead with the logistics and some details. Other groups involved include Franciscans, LCWR and CMSM, Pax Christi, Center of Concern, etc. A deliberate effort to expand the circle and to diversify the group is underway.

We said we thought MOGC could get 25 delegates there - starting now!
