Meg's update: January 14th - 30th, 2009

These past weeks have been very busy with Task Force Meetings at the U.N. One has been Human Trafficking, another preparing for a side-event, the theme of which is Child Brides - Stolen Lives, another Violence Against the Girl-Child, researching best practices of countries that have ratified the CRC. Also tracking governments that have ratified the Convention, but have not fulfilled their responsibilities in carrying out protection for children. Finally, the monthly meeting on Working Group on Girls, the NGO Committee on UNICEF, preparing advocacy visits to Member State representatives in preparation for the International Meeting,
March 2-13th, at the U.N.; these visits are requesting representatives to back proposals that our committees will present to the General Assembly for approval - those related to women and children.
