Panelists & Experts in today's event brought forth challenges and correctives relating to financing for Climate Change: Gender Equality. Mr. Viinanen, Finland representative, said 70% of their women were not part of decision-making, yet, now training programs continue to be strong where women are included, i.e. health issues, forestry, educational improvements.
Ms. Soon-Young Voom WEDO rep. need for transparency, and inclusion of women in all issues relating to their life, especially in future Copenhagen documents. Mr. Christian Holmes, USAID,
addressing policy directives, said the need for women's analysis and involvement was crucial to C.C. correctives. Yuvan Beejadhur, World Bank, advanced the necessary component of promoting sustainable development, together with country clients ,on finances. Important to create partners with U.N. and others. Rachel Harris, C.C. Campaign Coordinator, posed the question,"What do grass-roots women want"? Resources for domestic needs, for land improvement,women's total participation in local and national policies. Senegal was noted as the first country to develop a national plan promoting gender equality.
