Update: 9-6-20012/Protect Girls Against Violence
Today's meeting highlighted our efforts to work together with a network of agencies, to protect girls against violence especially during the World Cup in Brazil, 2014; as it is known so well, children are trafficked to supply the demand for sex and other exploitation during major supporting events. To protect children, especially during this event, we are developing a comprehensive approach with the Brazilian government, civil society, other NGO's to attack all aspects of child exploitation including the demand by "johns", the supply for traffickers and pimps, help for the victims as well as speedy law enforcement of crimes committed. To further our goals, a Name and Shame campaign will publish any company or tourist industry that promotes sex exploitation during this event. On October 11th, our Task Force will share a Side-Event on "Best Practices: Preventing Child Exploitation at Major Events" to further ways in which healthy activities can be carried out to protect our children worldwide.
