Convention on the Rights of the Child: Why it is Time to Ratify - a two day conference at Georgetown University School of Law emphasized the opportunity presented by the Obama Administration. As a candidate, Obama verbalized support for US ratification of the CRC and thus may be inclined to at least send it to the Senate for consideration. Speakers I heard, including Marian Wright Edelman, Kul Chandra Gautam and Yanghee Lee were very hopeful and encouraging. The campaign for ratification will amplify its efforts int he coming months.
