Today's conference brought together several outstanding speakers addressing the Financial & Economic Crisis now being debated at the UN. Mr. Sundaram, Asst. Sec. Gen. for Economic Dept. and member of the Commission of Experts on Reforms of Financial System highlighted the importance of this meeting; it being second only to Bretton Woods held some decades past.
The need for a new paradigm shift that benefited all countries with their needs expressed; integrated political systems, necessary data analysis, and stakeholders having their voices heard.
Mr. Rene Grotenhuis, Director of Cordaid, championed debt moratorium, international regulations, and representatives from developing countries be at the table for decision-making.
Mr. Bert Koenders, Minister for Development Cooperation, Netherlands, felt the draft being discussed at the GA has potentials for corrective changes, while ushering in the possiblility of a new global system. Other speakers and participants in the audience offered the need for corporate responsiblity, the end of market speculation, rethink the language used, and the bottom line must be the growth of the human person.
