Today's meeting covered several important areas, immediate, and events being planned for the CSW 55 Session, Feb. 22- March 4, 2011. A side-event was proposed for the 10th anniversary of S.C. Resolution 1325, women, peace & security, highlighting the consequences of war on girls, and their potentials as peace makers in post conflict situations. Following the theme of CSW 55,
events suppested are: Trafficking & Sexual Exploitation; Educating Citizens to Participate in Gov't.; Global Monitoring Report 2010, Reaching the Marginalized; Psychology & Disaster Relief, good practices and its implementation - Rwanda was mentioned as a source for this theme. Fact sheets are being prepared to update data on child soldiers, especially those violated in the Congo.
The meeting concluded with expressions of heartfelt gratitude to Sr. Ann Scholz who is leaving her position as NGO representative to the UN after 8yrs. of dedicated service. We all are deeply indebted to Ann for her vision, sharings, and collaborative approach. She will be always in our hearts and prayers.
