Meg's update: Protect Girls Against Violence: 10-4-12
Today's meeting finalized our Task Force Side-Event for the International Day of the Girl Child,on October 11th. Speakers will include: Ms. Abigail Kuzma,General Counsel of Indiana Attorney General's Office discussing their efforts to prevent trafficking at Super Bowl 2012. Mr.David Arkless, Manpower's president, will share experiences working with business corporations to prevent exploitation
of women and children. Joost Kooijmans, Asst. to UN representative to Sec. General will outline ways to work with States setting up mechanisms to prevent child violence. Ms. Peace A., a high school senior and Girl Advocate, will relate some personal experiences, giving voice to the Girl Child. Recommendations offered will be to work with gov't to see that laws prohibiting child exploitation are enforced; encourage businesses to sign on to the Code of Conduct Campaign; raise awareness by using Social Media to inform the immediate need for all populations to join in lessening this horrific violation against the person of the Girl Child. On this day dedicated to the universal celebration of the Girl Child, we join with all others in renewed commitment to protect and honor the dignity of her person.
