I am waiting in the airport in Portland for the red eye flight back east after giving the keynote for the Catholic Network of Volunteers conference. It was very inspiring to be with the CNVS group. Last year their member groups sent 12,000 volunteers to work all over the US and around the world. I think it went reasonably well, though it is difficult to talk to people who know more than you do! I used Gus Speth's book, Bridge to the End of the World and, with his help, offered a few new thoughts to the mix. People seemed satisfied.
Earlier this week I was in Nashville to give a talk for the secular Franciscan national leadership. That one went well.
I am trying to use these opportunities to emphasize the ecological-economics intersection. People seem quite receptive after the financial collapse!
