In preparation for the upcoming 53rd Session of the CSW, the Working Group on Girls is planning a series of events that focus on the impact of caregiving and HIV/AIDS on the girl child.
Advocacy is the Task Force I have signed onto. The Planning Tasks include: Coordinate Mission Contacts; Plan Contacts with Regional Country Groups; Plan for Cooperation with UN Agencies, and coordiate lobbying activities during the CSW. The first named activity is to contact Member State representatives; our aim being to make girls visible and to represent their issues.
I have begun contacting two countries - Zambia and Cambodia - requesting to meet with their point person to advance our objectives. Our Task Force Meeting will be on Monday, 13th, to share what has been done up to this point.
