The NGO Committee on Spirituality, Values and Global Concerns held its weeks series of activities at the U.N. October 20-24, 2008. Through it activities, the Committee aims to integrate spirituality and values into all areas of the U.N. agenda and of public policy. It aims to support the global ethics and universal values such as respect, justice, peace, dignity, freedom, responsibility and cooperation, that underlie the work of the U.N. as reflected in the Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Early in the week, "Spirit of the UN"Award was presented to Ambassador Hilario G. Davide, Jr. Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the U.N. for his outstanding and continuous efforts in carrying out the highest ideals crafted in the UN Charter. Speakers throughout the week addressed issues dealing with ethical business practices, making human rights come alive for all, cultivating the seeds of forgiveness and meaning in one's life, and the relationship between science of meditation and the practice of human rights. A very special moment for us as Maryknollers was the dance performance of our Sister Yoo Soo Kim as she interpreted through dance, "Cosmic Water - Source of Life". She was
superb in every movement, and acclaimed by all. It was a rich sharing throughout the week.
