Meg's update: 9-24-09 Res. 1325 & Climate Change

Another excellent event today at the UN, sponsored by the presidents of Finland and Liberia, and moderated by Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland. The event featured Acting on 1325 and Climate Change. An international Colloquium, March 7-8, 2009, at Monrovia,Liberia, adopted a Call for Action on UNSCResolution 1325 addressed to world leaders to take a strong stand in putting the resolution into action. Some progress has been made, but it has been seen that continuous violations of women's rights, especially in armed conflict, calls for immediate action. In 2010, the 10th anniversary of 1325, will be addressed strongly at the UN. The Colloquim adopted a Call for Action on Climate Change and Gender. It calls on governments, intergovernmental and other stakeholders to cooperate and Seal the Deal at the upcoming Copenhagen Meeting.
