This morning at the GA, panelists from Belgium, Philippines, Africa addressed their concerns with recommendations as they spoke in the name of their constituents. Unemployment remains high for workers globally; the present economic system must be changed. Countries need to define clearly their goals, debt restructuring is a must, corporations should be taxed. Other comments made were: education for rural peoples most important; communities must be developed through people power. Agricultural communities in Africa are now devastated by what drought, deforestation, climate disasters, are doing to their livlihood. The plea was for greater cooperation, from all countries and govenments to tackle together these problems.
A last speaker addressed the truth that our farmers are the life line in keeping all of us healthy.
They are central as food producers, and must be equipped with new skills and knowledge to meet the demands of this century and beyond.
