In preparation for the CSW 54 Session at the UN, a two-day forum will be held on February 27th-28th to question what has been achieved over the past 15yrs. as governments, through resolutions and many instruments had committed themselves to pursuing gender equality.
The Global NGO Forum will be a space to review major challenges, pinpoint specific blockages and challenges, identify best practices in implementation of BPFA, and formulate and launch a Call to Action to address those challenges, building on best practices. The global priority issues will be identified with input from a speaker from the five regional groups. At today's meeting, questions and issues were raised. How will a Call to Action and best practices be aligned with global priorities? When looking at global priorities and best practaices, we need to discuss the role of culture and tradition in all this.
