Meg's update: October 8th: Human Rights thru UN

UNA-USA, Council of Organizations, invited Pollyanna Truscott, Deputy Representative at eh UN, Amnesty International to address this afternoon event, the theme, "Defending women's human rights through the UN. The recent adoption of a General Assembly resolution on gender equality, the 10th anniversary of Security Council Resolution 1325 in 2010, the upcoming 2010 summit on MDG, women's rights will take a prominent place on the agenda of the UN over the coming years she said. As Ms. Truscott addressed each of these issues, she was not aware of her audience of NGO's who have been working on these issues for years. Her content was not new to us. Her resume is impressive, however, having served in Afghanistan, Myanmar Kosovo, Pakistan and Europe's Mission in Croatia. Her focus has been, and continues to be, on women's human rights, poverty, and arms trade.
