Meg' update: Beijing +15 Meetings November 2nd
In preparation for Beijing 15 meeting in early March, I attended three meetings today. The first, White House Council for Women and Girls, highlighted some of the accomplishments to date: SC Unanimous approval of Resolution 1888, advanced by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. UN Ambassador, Susan Rice's affirming our governments cooperation at the UN, with other Member States, in global issues; Melanne Verveer, on Global Women's Issues. Her recent statements at the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee of the need to chart a new era of cooperation among gov'ts, multilateral institutions, civil society to stem violence against women and children. I'm following Ms. Verveer activities for the this task force.
