Update: December 4th, 2008

Our task force, "Pathways to Protect Girls - an NGO Committee on UNICEF, met this afternoon; our goals are to learn how governments are implementing legislation and treaties they have signed onto as related to violence against the girl-child. In addition to studying documents that governments have signed onto, we are preparing to visit member state representatives to determine "good practices" that have been followed, as also to encourage others that need to do more in the way of implementation. I am asked to visit Ms. Radhika Coomaraswamy, Special Representataive for Children & Armed Conflict, at the UN; I am awaiting her reply as to a convenient time for an interview.
