This morning, our monthly Human Trafficking Meeting was held at Franciscans International
Center. We began with an update of materials read and researched with the suggestion that a list of the same be put on our website. We were encouraged also to be acquainted with and frequent AIRSET, as another source of data available relating to trafficking. As we prepare to visit agencies and UN member state representatives, we discussed and refined suitable "Talking Points" to assist us in our visits. Our guest speaker was Catherine Ferguson, from UNANIMA,
an outstanding advocate of their campaign, "Stop the Demand". Catherine shared highlights of their 2007-2010 goals and activities, educational workshops given their own international communities, training sessions for volunteers, and a range of wonderful materials to accompany
presentations. Catherine's presentation was excellent. Sister Kathie Uhler, OSF joined us for a part of the meeting, and shared an OSF publication "Guide to Anti-Trafficking Law in the U.S.A."
with the group.
